Why Poste Restante?

Once upon a time – but not that long ago – before the Internet, e-mail, Facebook and Twitter,  the traveller’s world of communication was markedly different. Staying in touch while travelling took a bit more effort but had its own rewards. In some respects the Web has diluted the romance of being on the road, far away and out of touch for weeks, perhaps months at a time. Now everyone can know where you are, all the time, almost instantly. Whatever happened to getting away from it all?

Following the example of movements such as Slow Food, this blog is named in salute of a era when things took their own good time. Posts will be made as and when, and will be held here awaiting pick up by you, the reader, as and when, just like in those days of not so long ago …..
